Statement of Responsibility
This Policy applies to all clients and potential clients of Kinder Caring.
Consumer Rights and Responsibilities
As a client of Kinder Caring, you have the right to:
- safe and high-quality care and services;
- be treated with dignity and respect;
- have your identity, culture and diversity valued and supported;
- live without abuse and neglect;
- your independence;
- be listened to and understood;
- personal privacy and to have your personal information protected;
- be informed about your care and services in a way you understand;
- access all information about yourself, including information about your rights, care and services;
- access information about Kinder Caring, including services offered, fee schedules, policies and procedures, client rights and the complaints policy;
- have control over and make choices about your care, and personal and social life, including where the choices involve personal risk;
- have control over, and make decisions about, the personal aspects of your daily life, financial affairs and possessions;
- be involved in your care assessment, developing and reviewing your care plan and regular reviews;
- have a person of your choice, including an aged care advocate, support you or speak on your behalf;
- complain free from reprisal, and to have your complaints dealt with fairly and promptly;
- exercise your rights without it adversely affecting the way you are treated;
- meet Care Workers prior to service delivery where appropriate, and reject Care Workers;
- receive a copy of any written agreements that include all agreed matters;
- cancel your services.
As a client of Kinder Caring you have the responsibilities to:
- give enough information to assist Kinder Caring in developing, delivering and reviewing a care plan;
- inform Kinder Caring and its staff about any problems with the care and services;
- abide by the Terms & Conditions of any written agreements;
- inform us about any known work health and safety issues that may impact our staff;
- treat Kinder Caring staff with respect, without exploitation, abuse, discrimination or harassment;
- accept responsibility for yourselves and the results of any decisions you make;
- advise us if there is somebody who is legally authorised to act on your behalf;
- not ask Kinder Caring staff to break the law;
- not ask Kinder Caring staff to undertake any tasks that are not agreed on by Kinder Caring as per the Care Plan;
- not ask any Kinder Caring staff to participate in any unethical behaviour.
