Meet Our Independent Support Coordinator Series: Introducing Hollie from Sydney

Hollie recently joined Kinder Caring as an Independent Support Coordinator, bringing her expertise and passion for person‑centred care to clients across Greater Sydney. With a strong background in both Support Coordination and Psychosocial Recovery Coaching, she is dedicated to helping participants navigate the NDIS with confidence, while ensuring they feel supported, empowered, and in control of their goals.

To help you get to know Hollie a little better, we asked her a few questions about her background, approach, and what inspires her in her work.

Tell us about your background and experience

I have over five years of experience as an NDIS Support Coordinator and Psychosocial Recovery Coach, and in that time I’ve developed a combination of professional expertise, clinical insight, and genuine compassion for the people I support. I’m dedicated to helping participants navigate the NDIS with confidence and achieve meaningful, lasting change.

I’ve had the privilege of working with people who have a wide range of needs — from psychosocial and mental health challenges to complex disability supports. My focus is always on working closely with participants so they not only understand their NDIS plans, but also feel empowered to take charge of their goals and daily lives.

What qualifications or training do you bring to the role?

I hold a Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology and a Bachelor of Psychology, which give me a strong foundation in human behaviour, wellbeing, and evidence‑based practice. This background really underpins my thoughtful, client‑centred approach and supports me in working effectively with participants who have complex psychosocial needs.

Do you have any areas of specialisation or particular experience supporting certain participants?

Yes, my interest in holistic wellbeing extends beyond my coordination work. I’ve contributed to published research exploring the connection between the gut microbiome and mood regulation, which reflects my commitment to understanding health from both physical and psychological perspectives. This broader lens allows me to support participants in a way that considers their whole wellbeing, not just their immediate service needs.

How would you describe your approach to supporting participants?

I believe that effective support coordination begins with empathy, communication, and trust. I take the time to understand each participant’s story, challenges, and aspirations, and then work collaboratively with them to design support pathways that are both practical and empowering.

What do you enjoy most about being a Support Coordinator?

What I enjoy most about being a Support Coordinator is seeing participants build their capacity, strengthen their independence, and celebrate progress — no matter how small. Every participant deserves to feel confident in their choices and supported in achieving their goals, and my role is to help make that process easier, clearer, and more empowering.

What sets you apart in your work?

What sets me apart is the way I combine professionalism, warmth, and a genuine dedication to person‑centred care. I bring strong knowledge of the NDIS and disability sector, but I also take a holistic view of wellbeing. This balance allows me to ensure participants feel genuinely supported at every step of their journey.
